Seminole Nation Museum Assistant Registrar Betsy Bender monitors light levels in the museum’s photograph storage room using a new light meter purchased through a 2012 "Threats to Your Collections" grant sponsored by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries and the Oklahoma Historical Records Advisory Board.  The grant supported the purchase of environmental monitoring equipment to safeguard the museum's archival collections.  The museum’s extensive photographic collection contains in excess of six thousand images -  some dating to the mid-Nineteenth Century - and records the diverse and unique history and culture of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma and the community of Wewoka.
